A confidential space to explore the thoughts, feelings and challenges in your life
I am Gill and am a fully qualified, BACP registered counsellor working with adults over the age of 18.
I came to counselling from a background in corporate HR where I enjoyed mentoring and supporting staff. I combined this with raising a family, including a child with a disability and supporting an older relative with dementia. I have first hand experience of juggling a career with caring responsibilities. I have seen how workplace stress can impact people both at work and in their personal lives. I've experienced the challenges and joy of raising a child with additional needs. These experiences led me into counselling as I know how important it is to have a voice, to be heard and to be understood.
My counselling experience includes working for 4 years at a low cost community counselling service where I supported adults with a range of issues. I currently work with a charity which provides support to families in which a child has been diagnosed with a complex medical condition.
My qualifications include:
I undertake continuous professional development.
I am trained in the person-centred approach. What does this mean?
I believe you are the expert in your life. I will not tell you what to do but I can offer you a space that is warm, safe and non-judgemental and we'll work together, at your pace, to explore what is going on for you.
Clients have said that having that space to work through their current challenges, to say out loud what they are thinking without being judged, has allowed them to work out what they really want or need and allowed them to go back into their world with that voice.
"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."
Carl Rogers, On Becoming a Person

I am based in Downe, Kent and see people face-to-face from nearby Orpington, Bromley, Biggin Hill and Cudham.
In addition to providing face-to-face therapy, I also offer telephone counselling and online sessions for clients throughout the UK.
I offer long term and short term work. I mainly work on-line but can also offer telephone and face to face sessions. Sessions last for 60 minutes and usually take place weekly although I am happy to be flexible and look at alternatives such as fortnightly. The cost of a session is £50. I hold a limited number of spaces at a reduced rate for those on a low income or students. Contact me for availability.
The foundation of effective therapy is the relationship between therapist and client. I offer a free 15 minute telephone or on-line session in which we can get to know each other better. This can allow both of us to decide if I have the skills to meet your needs.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange a free 15-minute introductory session. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right person to help.
All contact is strictly confidential.
